His first published novel was Deeper than Darkness (1970). In later years he reworked the novel and it was republished as The Stars in Shroud (1978); since he thought that the previous version was not so sophisticated and well written.

His collaborative work: “If the Stars are God” with Gordon Eklund; it earned him another Nebular Award in 1974. The story encompasses the existence of aliens who regard the Sun as a god and the central planet.

His best solo work based on science and time travel, Timescape (1980) has won him the Nebula Award, the British SF Award, the John Campbell Award and also a nomination for the Locus Award in 1981, is available for print in ten international languages. The last chapter is set in the year 1974 and depicts an ongoing awards ceremony for notable scientific achievements; where the scientist named Bernstein, who was the first to receive and decipher the signals; receives the Enrico Fermi award. With the successful release of his works, the author has recognized himself as one of the best-selling hard science fiction authors.

The Galactic Center Saga is an exciting and pioneering publication. It is considered significant since the author dedicated a large part; that is to say nineteen years to finish the series.
