DirecTV vs. Dish Network

In the North American world of satellite television, there are only two major players in the high-tech field of satellite television. DirecTV and Dish Network. This revelation raises the next question, DirecTV vs. Dish Network, which one is right for me? Read the following article with your pen in hand. Use the information below to find out which service best meets your needs.

Both DirecTV and Dish Network are very similar with great products and top-notch customer service, but there are several notable differences that need to be mentioned. First is the pricing structure. The Dish network is set up to be a bit cheaper to get into, while DirecTV is designed to offer more options. Direct TV has been around longer and has a larger user base than Dish Network. DirecTV also offers exclusive programming that Dish Network cannot offer, such as the NFL Sunday Ticket package, TV One, Fine Living, Fox Reality, and PBS Kids. The NFL Sunday Ticket package offers an excellent view of almost every NFL football game in the season, yet the Dish network does a good job of hitting the most common channels for a decent price.

Now, let’s get to what it’s really about, bring the channels!

Dish Network Packages

America top 60: 60 Chan / $ 26.99 month / $ 31.99 with local

America’s Top 60 Plus: 90+ Chan / $ 36.99 with the locals

America’s Top 120 : 120+ Chan / 37.99 / 42.99 with locals

America top 180 : 180+ Chan / $ 47.99 / $ 52.99 with locals

America’s “Everything” Package : 230+ Chan / 81.99 / 86.99 with locals

Direct tv

Total choice: 135 Chan / 41.99 with locals

Total Choice Plus: 155+ Chan / 45.99 with locals

Total Choice Premier: 215+ Chan / 93.99 with locals

As you can see, Dish Network offers a cheaper entry-level product overall, while DirecTV offers more channels, but which is a better deal? To answer this question, I’ll take the entry-level product of both services and divide the price by the number of channels offered to see what I call “more channels per dollar number.” To make this comparison more accurate, I am using the price that includes local channels. This is because Direct TV offers free local channels on all of its Total Choice packages.

Dish Network’s entry-level package with local channels is $ 31.99 for 60+ channels, which works out to 0.53 cents per channel per month. DirecTV offers 135 channels at $ 41.99 which costs .31 cents per channel per month. So my interpretation of the numbers amounts to the following. If price is your biggest concern and you’re satisfied with the basic lineup, choose Dish Network. If you want a lot of channels with the best performance for your money, you can’t go wrong with DirecTV.
