Remove cat urine from your memory foam mattress

If you have a pet cat at home, I’m sure you’ve experienced cat mishaps not once, but many times. But do you absolutely know what to do when your cat urinates on your expensive memory foam mattress?

You will need more than just replacing the duvet and sheets. Here are some tips you can try to remove the stain and odor:

Tip 1: hydrogen peroxide and baking soda

One word of caution before using this: it will discolor memory foam. But since you will be using a comforter, this shouldn’t be such a big problem. Also, this trick works better at removing the odor and stain than any other method.

Simply mix a quarter cup of baking soda and a quarter of hydrogen peroxide. You can also add this to your scented dishwashing liquid and use it to wash the affected area. Spray it with water first and then saturate it with this solution. Let it sit for a few minutes and spray it with water again.

Tip 2: vinegar and baking soda

Vinegar always works well to remove stains and odor. However, it can leave behind a bit of a vinegar smell, which is why you need the help of baking soda. You need to spray the affected area with water again to remove urine residue. Mix vinegar with water and spray it on the affected area. This should also kill the germs and bacteria there. Once it dries, spray it with water and use a sponge to soak up the moisture from the mattress. Then sprinkle with baking soda and leave for a few minutes and then vacuum.

Tip 3: lemon juice and vanilla

You can also use lemon juice as an alternative to vinegar. Spray the affected area with a lemon juice solution (a mixture of water and lemon juice) and allow the mattress to absorb the solution. Spray it with water again and drizzle in vanilla to remove the lemon smell.

Tip 4: alcohol

The next day, after trying one of the tips above, spray rubbing alcohol on the affected area to disinfect your mattress. This should completely get rid of the invisible horrors on the mattress.

Here are some methods that are not too aggressive for your memory foam mattress. Try them and you can smell a big difference. You will no longer have to eject your cat from your room.
