Types of ghosts: footprints, residual appearances

This article will provide more detailed information on the type of ghosts known as “Impressions”, also known as “residual ghosts.” These are the type of ghosts that seem to act as if they are living through the same set of past events over and over again. The ‘footprints’ are totally alien to your environment and anyone present, any attempt to communicate or interact with these types of ghosts only results in them continuing normally, as if you were the ghost. A good analogy of the phenomenon is to compare it to watching a short clip of a movie played in a loop with a 3D holographic projector.

The stone tape theory gives many researchers the perfect explanation for these types of ghost sightings. The theory suggests that the electromagnetic field (EMF) of our planets acts as a kind of tape recording device and that, under the right conditions, past events can be reproduced. This seems especially true in high-energy event scenes from the past like; murders, battles on the battlefield, accidents and other violent events of the past. This probably explains to a large extent why the places where such events have occurred are often haunted by these types of ghosts. A good example has been Gettysburg, where ghost sightings in battle are often reported, as was the case all those years ago.

However, many ‘imprinted’ ghost sightings are of ghosts seemingly in their daily life, seen walking down the hall, for example, only to then walk through the wall where there was a door in their life. In such cases, it would appear that there was no “high energy” event to cause the recording, although it is impossible to know the circumstances and emotions surrounding these seemingly mundane events. However, some ‘impression’ ghosts have been observed to seem to fade more and more each time they are seen, until eventually the sightings come to a complete halt. This could explain why some ghosts have not been seen for years, perhaps like an old videotape, the recording weakens every time it is seen.

When researching for a ghost hunt, you should try to figure out what type of ghost you are going to be dealing with. The two things that make a residual footprint / obsession stand out are:

  1. No interaction. In reviewing the witness reports, did the witness’ attempt to communicate, only to be met with silence? As if his words had not been heard? Did they try to interact maybe? Does it again show no difference to ghost behavior?
  2. Behaviour. Did it seem as if the ghosts were unfolding a series of events, oblivious to their surroundings? Was it like watching a scene from a movie?

If after your investigation you think you are dealing with a disturbing footprint, you should try to find out:

  • The time of past sightings. Most appearances of this type are surprisingly predictable, for example, the recording usually always repeats itself at the same time. Knowing when the ghosts have been seen before, you should plan your investigation at that time.
  • The location. Try to find the exact locations of where the sighting begins and ends and also the route taken. For example: the ghost lady appears in the window before going down the stairs, turns left and then disappears through the wall. You can then set up cameras, EVP machines, and other ghost search devices at these locations.
