Digital Marketing

What is affiliate marketing in a nutshell?

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is promoting other people’s products and services in exchange for a portion of the commissions.

They can be digital products like e-learning programs, which are made up of PDF e-books, video courses, software tools and website templates, and physical goods like the things that people like you and I buy every day on stores for consumption and entertainment. purposes

Signing up as an affiliate is very simple. Just do a Google search for affiliate programs and you’ll find dozens listed in the results. But out of my 10 years of internet marketing experience, Amazon, ClickBank, Market Health, and JVZoo are by far the most popular. While Amazon deals with consumer products, ClickBank and JVZoo specialize in the digital ones I just mentioned above. Market Health, as its name suggests, focuses primarily on health care products. Apart from these, you can also promote services like autoresponder, domain registration and web hosting which most of the marketers need as online tools to start their own online businesses.

While those companies focus on rewarding you with commissions for every sale you generate for them, there are others that pay you for every lead you get, whether that prospect buys or not. This comes under the term cost per action or CPA marketing. Never Blue and Peerfly are the 2 most popular networks highlighted, while you can also search for others through the Offer Vault and O’Digger CPA search platforms.

Upon registration, you will be given the option to receive your commissions via check or direct bank deposit, depending on where you live. For ClickBank, you must generate at least 5 sales before receiving a check and the option to continue receiving checks or direct deposits. For Amazon, you must generate at least $100 in commissions before you receive a check if you live outside of the US, or you have those same 2 options if you are American.

Once approved, you can start promoting your products and services. Since most of my 10 years have been spent promoting Amazon and ClickBank, I will refer to them. Now, as important as it is to learn and earn, you need to focus on who your target prospects are and how you can help them with their needs and wants. For Amazon, the answers are very obvious. I usually look for the best sellers, the most popular releases and products with at least 4 or 5 stars. But for ClickBank, I’ll look at those that pay commissions of at least $30 and very seriously like most affiliate promoters before I consider if I should do the same as well.

When deciding what to promote, I simply placed ads first through classified websites like Adlandpro, Adpost, Backpage, Craigslist, and Gumtree to get some quick cash to get started. Then I focused on creating content for long-term passive income, like writing articles, blogs, ebooks, press releases, and videos.

For info products, I usually link them to my landing page, and over time, once they became my subscribers, I followed them up not only with email promotions, but also with content and links to emails. my blog posts.

For physical products, those will be my affiliate sites that I will send my visitors to. But I do my best to make my site not look like an affiliate site, but a really professional looking eCommerce site using WordPress, Ink Themes and WooCommerce. So far I’ve promoted air purifiers, digital cameras, guitars, kindles, robotic toys, and seasonal gifts like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Chinese New Year.

Now, with the rise of Facebook as an all-in-one social media and marketing platform, I channeled my time and efforts into it. Like fan pages, groups, and ads that allow me to target my ideal prospects based on their age, gender, interests, and earning potential based on their occupations.

In general, affiliate marketing is like referral marketing, but it’s mostly done online and it can still make you a great passive income in the long run if you know how and what to do correctly and regularly. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a plan that helps you earn long-term passively.

Even without meeting and even talking to people compared to traditional marketing like direct sales and telemarketing.
