Hashtags can be fun

Ever since and before I was persuaded to join Twitter (yes, I could be a Twit), I had to learn more about this service that so many people, now numbering in the millions, find necessary for their daily lives.

I recently learned what #HASHTAGS are, in case you want to use them. It all sounds very technical and my search was based on a need to know. I looked at everything from Wikipedia to Twitter, and what I came up with tickled me. A word of warning: you won’t learn much from this article.

For starters, the Twaffic (Tweeple) people aren’t people who can’t pronounce their “Rs,” but this is to indicate traffic on Twitter. I don’t have a lot of Tweeps (Twitter followers who are your friends on various social networks) nor do I get a lot of ReTweets from Twitosphere (I love that word). So it’s unlikely that I’ll crash under a Twitpocalypse; make your own guesses on that.

I can’t reply to any tweeter or push it (action that reminds a user to update their status) and as long as I’m not a user I can’t mis-tweet (accidentally tweet the wrong person) and definitely not a Dweet (a tweet is felt while drunk) as I’m too much of a control freak to do that, but maybe one day I can TipsyTweet (my own contribution to the vocabulary of Twitter).

I don’t have a Tweetheart (unless you have my husband) and I don’t have time to Tweet and I don’t have time to Twead and especially since I’m still learning Twerminology. I may be Twitterish in my private life, but I would hold steady on Twitter.

From now on, I’m not going to translate every word of Twitter, but you do get the Trift, sorry drift. So a Twitterfly I might be envious of since I’m a Twitterphobe. If you ask me the deep reason why I’m in the phobia category, it’s because I’m already struggling to keep the English language, if not pristine then at least used correctly, 140 characters really isn’t enough for me. .

So we move with the times. I haven’t been stuck in a Twitterloop and have no real idea of the protocol, except for the obvious, like proper content, no profanity, etc., but that’s surely just common sense. So dude, I won’t have a Twittertude, and I may find a Twitticism or Ttwo, eventually. I don’t know if I would feel euphoric if I had a Twitterforia and that’s as far as Twitterject.

So, FWIW, AFAIK, BCNU, B4N, G2G, before I STFU, HAGD.*

And if you can make sense of the last sentence: Get a life!

jane valentine

* FWIW: for what it’s worth, AFAIK: as far as I know, BCNU: see ya, B4N: bye for now, G2G: whoops, STFU: close the lid, HAGD: have a nice day.
