Aluminum is easy to install because it is made of planks that interlock. Prices range from moderate to high, depending on whether you choose vinyl or laminated. The downside to aluminum is that it tends to fade and dent. It can also be noisy.
Vinyl is low maintenance and a cost effective material to purchase. It is easy to install and does not require repainting. Other than an occasional break, repairs are rarely required. It can be purchased in several different types of colors, textures, and designs.
Fiber cement is the newest type of material to appear on the market. While it is priced higher than some of the other options for a home, it also comes with a 50-year warranty. It is durable, pre-finished, low-maintenance and does not require annual refinishing.
