5 simple steps to have an excellent business idea

Most aspiring entrepreneurs search for viable business ideas online. But how do you come up with a feasible, practical and sustainable business idea?

I have had my own business for several years and have tried many different businesses, some of them worked and some of them didn’t. I recently looked back at all the businesses I tried. As I went through all my different business plans, I boiled down my good ideas to a few easy steps on how to create a viable business idea.

I want to share with you some tips that can help, especially those who want to start or even create their own business.

Here are the steps:

one.) Think of various ideas. There may be many concepts, but not all of them will work. When coming up with a business concept, try to take note of the businesses that consumers will need to use on a daily basis. Do not think about fleeting ideas, those that can disappear over time. Food is always a great idea; people will always need something to eat every day. Clothing is another example, consumers will always visit clothing stores to find something they can wear. Covering the basic needs of people will be one of the perfect choices you can make.

2.) Avoid temporary ideas. Sometimes an entrepreneur can overthink things because he wants to get the most distinct and unique idea, he can venture into a business that people don’t really need. These are things that people can live without every day. Typically, these types of businesses do not last long. People get bored and forget about them. A laundry business is one of these. People can always wash their own clothes, so this is not necessary. Clients can try these types of businesses for about six months, but after that, they never come back, especially when they realize that they may just be a waste of their money.

3.) Be well informed. Assuming that you have already finalized your choice, always be knowledgeable about the business that you are going to start. At first, you may not fully know everything about it, but make sure that before you start trading, you fully understand what your business is all about. Understanding and knowing your business will help you on your way to success.

4.) Know the essential details. A business will always have the main details and sometimes you only focus on the most important ones. Never stop forgetting the smallest details because no matter how small that detail is, it can still have an impact on your business.

5.) Promote but don’t cheat. Deception is a bad form of publicity. There will always be ways to entice consumers to buy your products or services as honestly as possible. When you try to trick them sooner or later they will find out and when they do they will never come back to you. Consumers don’t want to be deceived and lie, they want honesty. Remember that they are using cash from their income to buy your product, so they deserve to be told the truth.
