File sharing for large files

How do I share my files with you, do I have files larger than 25 MB? A customer asked.

Well, there are many ways to upload large files on the web. I personally use the 3 file sharing procedures because it is simple, painless, very basic, and easy to understand, especially for normal, non-tech people.

1. Dropbox.com. You will need to sign up for an account and you will be able to upload and download files, photos and videos. This is very convenient because you can access it from anywhere. You can also invite people to share your folder.

Typically, you get an allotment of 2GB of free space if you sign up. However, if you have a file larger than that, subscriptions are available up to 100GB for an additional fee.

If you invite people to share your folder, they, in turn, will need to sign up to dropbox.com to see your folder, and for that reference, you have 250MB of additional space.

2. Another way to upload large files is through Yousendit.com. You may be able to send files up to 50MB for free. If your file exceeds that, a subscription fee is required or you have other options like using it and paying for use only.

3. Last but not least, there is Filezilla, if you are familiar with this.

What is Filezilla? Filezilla is a free, open source ftp service that you can download from the Internet and run on your computer. You may be able to upload and download files directly to your web server. Webmasters often use this method when creating or maintaining a website.

For me this is the best way, since you are already paying for your web hosting, why not use it for file sharing as well? But this is not for the faint of heart. It can be confusing for a normal layman or non-tech savvy person as I know some technicians who are struggling with this method even though it may seem simple.

This is what Filezilla looks like. You first connect to your server with your host username and password. And once you’re connected, just drag and drop the files.

Usually the files on the left side are your local file and the files on the right side are the files that reside on your server or web host. If you need to upload a file, just drag the file from left to right and if you download a file, you will need to drag the file from right to left depending on where the local host and the server host are. .

Sounds easy right?
