It’s the monsoons AND a long weekend: 5 tips for singing in the rain

“Some people feel the rain Others just get wet.” -Bob Marley

There is a reason why the rains bring out the poet in us. Whether he chooses to stay indoors or get soaked, there’s something about rainy days that makes him want to fly.

But somewhere along these dreamy monsoons is reality that looms as the proverbial villain. Why oh why are there monsoon problems?

Think smelly clothes, dirty shoes, bad traffic, army of mosquitoes and dumb drivers (who splash water as they pass). Gross.

Encourage. There’s a war out there and you can’t let it stop you.

So whether you are planning a trip to Neemrana, Jaisalmer, Fagu or Kasauli or just a long trip, we will help you have the time of your life this monsoon.

Taking into account that you already know and already have nice raincoats -we love fluorescents, transparencies and prints- let’s think beyond all that, okay?

Here is a top five for rainy days:

1. Smart phone and charger: waterproof cover for phone and power bank charger. Invest in these things. Amazon has some great stuff.

2. Repellents: every hiker and your neighbor’s best friend trust it.

3. DIY Rainproof Shoes: There is such a thing. Just rub wax on your shoes (you can take a candle), spend a minute with a hair dryer and voila! Your waterproof shoes are ready.

4. Skincare: Go basic with skincare this monsoon. Try a tablespoon of honey as an almond cleanser or scrub and just stay clean and dry.
You could try this fun face mask. Simply mix together 1 egg white, ½ cup of beer (resist the urge to slurp), and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Apply and rinse after 10 minutes. Get bright.
Nothing elaborate.

5. Cocktails: Enjoy these fun cocktails to brighten up the night.
Whiskey Skin (helps big time if you catch a cold)
Simply rinse a cup with boiling water to heat it up. Add a teaspoon of sugar and lemon peel to some warm water, just enough to dissolve it. Add scotch whiskey and a little more warm water. That is all. Ready as soon.
space gin punch
In a cocktail shaker, add some mint leaves, a quarter of a lemon, 2 green seedless grapes, an apple cube and a little syrup (basically equal parts water and sugar over medium heat). Give a light mix. Now add gin and ice and shake it up. Clever!

So, we can ask, where are we going this weekend?
