NFL playoffs: the pros and cons of the halftime show
The National Football League (NFL) is in its first week of the highly anticipated playoff season. With surprises, blowouts and recurring wild card trends, fans across the country are rooting for their favorite teams. The best part about the NFL playoffs is that if you don’t have cable like I do, you are guaranteed to see every game. For the hardcore fans it is crucial to see all the teams. And if that’s not enabled, it’s definitely a must to be able to see the game’s highlights. That’s an advantage of playoff game halftime schedules. While necessary for fans and players alike, halftime shows can be beneficial and a hassle.
Why might you not like halftime shows? Well, if you have a very scheduled weekend, watching all the games can be a difficult task. And when there comes a time when you want to see every minute of your favorite teams play, halftime shows can get in the way. Think about it. If the game starts at noon and you have to be somewhere right at three o’clock, the halftime show actually works against you. As much as you want to check out those other game highlights, this game hiatus can make you miss out on the most exciting final plays of the year. Likewise, if your job is to handle the grill, your housemates could use it against you if you don’t lift your butt and get the grill ready. If you get up from the couch, you have a higher chance of missing parts of the game or the channel turning on. That’s the worst.
However, part-time shows in the NFL are necessary and truly advantageous. Not only do they allow you to see all those hot plays that you might have missed, but you can also see how every other team in the division is doing. Especially during the playoff season, it is very necessary to know what is happening in all the other games. Halftime shows are also great for busy folks who want to take advantage of this break in the game to quickly toss laundry into the dryer for a quick dinner. This break is great for NFL players to rest and regain confidence and great for you at home to do your homework before an early second half.
