Communication process and its characteristics

Communication It is the meaningful interaction with people in such a way that the ideal that the ideal thought is the same and also get the feedback. Communication is commonly defined as “the exchange of thoughts, ideas, feelings, information, opinions, and knowledge.” It also implies reciprocity of understanding.

Communication definitions:

  • Communication is meaningful interaction.
  • Communication is sharing information.
  • Communication is a linking force.
  • Communication is understanding.
  • Communication is a fundamental requirement of life.

Important feature of communication:

  • It is a 2 way process.
  • The communication process occurs between two or more parties. (Sender and Receiver)
  • Communication involves the exchange of ideas, feelings, information, thoughts, and knowledge.
  • Communication implies reciprocity of understanding between the sender and the receiver.
  • There are two types of communication that is to say, Verbal and non-verbal communication.

Basic communication model/communication process:

Source/ Sender: The person who wants to transmit something formulates a message, which can be better understood and interpreted by the receiver. He is the author and responsible for the content.

Coding: The message to be conveyed to the receiver is cautiously converted into phrases, gestures, signs, etc. significant. This is done taking into account various aspects such as the attitude, perception and cultural background of the person.

Channel: The channel is the medium through which the message travels. This medium can be formal or informal. It is in the context of comfort level and social norms. For example, talking to a friend would be an informal channel.

Decoding: The receiver interprets the message, which depends entirely on his perception, cultural background, attitude, understanding, etc.

Receiver: Person to whom the message is ultimately addressed.

Comment: This is very important and its objective is to reconfirm whether or not what the sender wanted to send has been correctly interpreted and understood by the receiver.
