Dogs suffering from firecrackers during the festive season: safe dog care during the festival

Festivals bring a lot of joy and celebration. In the midst of all this pageantry and pageantry, we sometimes forget about the safety of our canine friends, which becomes even more important during this time. As you know, dogs hear very well. They can differentiate between the engine noises of two cars of the same make and listen sharper when their master’s car arrives, an impossible feat for most of us. They can hear about 40 times better than us.

So now we know, our canine friends can hear noises or sounds beyond our ability and they have a very wide hearing spectrum. They can be initiated largely by the noise of burning crackers at a great distance. We all need to behave responsibly and avoid loud crackers altogether.

holiday fears

What bothers our pets the most is loud music. As common sense prevails, what worries humans is hell for pets. There are loudspeakers everywhere during the festive season, which contributes to the heavy noise pollution. These are the circumstances that need to be controlled.

I have seen cases of dogs hiding as noise levels increase and that is very traumatic for them. Dogs tend to run away from their homes when they’re scared, so it’s important to make sure they’re safe and secure.

Some dogs can become very agitated and try to chew on things or bite people or even their owners at the slightest provocation during such times. I have also found cases of dogs attacking live cookies trying to get them into their mouths, biting into the cookies and burning themselves in the process. Always remember that cookies can cause fear, aggression or mental depression in dogs, so keep an eye on your pet at all times.

I even came across a case where a puppy chewed on the ornaments in front of the deity during worship and ‘ate’ them. The dog keepers couldn’t figure out where the decorations disappeared until I suggested they get the pup X-rayed. So be careful with this topic too.

Food during the holidays

Other important precautions during the festive season would be feeding the dogs.

o Do not feed sweets or spicy foods to dogs, as this can upset their stomachs.

o Do not change normal feeding practices.

o Do not leave candy in the open box as your little one can eat it all and get sick.

Several recommended treatments:

Homeopathic:

o Match: Use when the dog is easily startled by noise and suddenly jumps up when something is dropped.

o Borax: Use when the dog is very startled even though the noise is a long way away.

o Aconitum: Main remedy for fear. Use when the response is quick and violent. Use low strength doses: 3x, 6x, 3c, or 6c.

o Ayurvedic: Mental Syrup (Himalayan medicines) or Anxocare Syrup (veterinary formulation) One teaspoon three times a day or one tablet of each of the above medicines is recommended as a behavior modifier, anxiolytic and mood elevator.

o Allopathic – These are very potent and should only be used under the supervision of a veterinarian.
