Important Tips for Raising a Godly Family

Proverbs 3:1-2

MY SON, do not forget my law or my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;

2 For the duration of the days and years of a life [worth living] and calm [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death]they will add to you.”

Dear people of God, in today’s egalitarian society, it can be quite a challenge to raise a godly family.

However, the main text of today’s Holy Bible gives us an idea of how to approach this problem, which is the basis of today’s post.

We will consider a series of very important tips that any parent can use to ensure that the family remains in the fear and love of Almighty God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:

1. First things first, parents should live by and show an example of godliness to the whole family everywhere and at all times. You cannot issue one set of rules for yourself and another set of rules for your children. This would only cause confusion in their little minds and create problems for them later in life.

Most importantly, your words, thoughts, actions, and reactions must be consistent with God’s commandments in the Holy Bible. Only then will the Holy Spirit of God guide and direct you along the paths of justice. Only then would it be easy for his children to absorb the godly principles that he wants to pass on to them.

2. Second, there should be a family prayer time every day to worship and thank God for all His goodness and thanksgiving to you as a family. You must resolve to understand that it is God’s blessings that make you rich without sorrow and extra hard work cannot make you richer – Proverbs 10:22.

When you understand this fact, then it is easy to always create time for prayer, Bible study and discussions with the whole family where the Truth of God’s Word is digested in an atmosphere of love in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

3. You must constantly expose the family to pious literature, movies, and music. Every type of entertainment you consume should be one that builds you up and glorifies God.

Whether you believe it or not, dear friend, ungodly literature, music, and movies bring unclean spirits that contaminate the person exposed to them.

To confirm this fact, let us consider the Words of Jesus Christ in Luke 11:34-36, Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye (your conscience) is healthy and doing its job, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not healthy and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness.

35 See then that the light that is in you is not darkness.

36 So, if your whole body is illuminated, without any dark part, it will be completely bright [with light]as when a lamp with its bright rays shines on you.

Just like that, you can see that you build yourself up or pollute yourself by the kinds of things you expose yourself to and so you must understand this, practice it personally and teach the same to your family.

4. You must communicate with your family members in a language that builds. If your child or spouse offends you, do not curse no matter how angry you are, but say a word of prayer over that child or spouse to rebuke the spirit that is causing the child or spouse to misbehave.

The Word of God tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who indulge in it will eat its fruits – Proverbs 18:21.

Every word we speak is a prophecy for our life or the life of the person to whom it is said, so you must be careful not to speak ill of the life of the child or the spouse out of anger, because it will happen as you have decreed. .

Whether the child or spouse is present or not, whether the child or spouse has offended you or not, speak into that person’s life what you want to see and it will happen. Take note that no matter how terrible your child or spouse is behaving before you have read this post, begin TODAY and NOW to speak words of prophecy according to God’s Word in the person’s life.

That child or spouse must surely repent, come to their senses, and return to godliness in Christ Jesus. That is the power of a praying parent and spouse.

5. You must show by example and also teach your children a deep, reverent, sincere fear, love, respect and appreciation for God always as a golden rule. No matter what happens in life, you must learn to appreciate God as the Word of God says.

This is very important, dear friend. Philippians 4:6 says: Do not fret or worry about anything, but in all circumstances and in everything, with prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, keep making your needs known to God.”

You must also teach your children to respect others as they also see in you. The Holy Bible will always guide in this because it is the complete Book of Truth in instruction in holiness and righteous living in the fear of God and respect for humans.

6. It is pertinent to note that discipline is part of raising a child, so make sure you use it when necessary. Once again, the Holy Bible tells us in Proverbs 29:15 and 17, The rod and the test give wisdom, but a child without discipline puts his mother to shame… Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give joy to your heart.”

Discipline can take different forms, such as making sure the child doesn’t always get their way, especially when you know it would hurt the child. It takes a bit of spanking to get the message across to the child that her behavior is clearly unacceptable.

Of course, it is equally necessary to let the child know why he must be disciplined so that he knows the limits of his behavior. Therefore, do not be afraid to discipline the child who errs.

My dear, always remember that it is God friend Who has given us the family we have including children as a gift. We must account for this gift and therefore it is important to ensure that godly principles are a part of your life and family so that God’s blessings flow smoothly and the Holy Spirit remains in your family.

So whenever others, especially non-Christians, ask him the secret of his success in raising a godly family, he will readily seize the opportunity to thank and glorify God as the One who has done it and evangelize to share the secrets with his listeners. . and point them to God and his Word in the Holy Bible as the solution to every problem in this life.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it, and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
