MLM Training – Beginner’s MLM Training Guide to Network Marketing Success

My first day at MLM Training!

I was excited and nervous because I had just completed my first “NDO” or New Distributor Orientation with my Taiwan Millionaire upline. Joined Amway over 10 years ago, became a Diamond with Amway, but later resigned and switched to Nuskin. He became a Team Elite million dollar winner in Nuskin and now I believe he has made over 10 million US dollars in MLM.

My upline said, “This business is very simple. All you need are these 4 pieces of paper!”

“Hmm!” He was a bit skeptical, but he had to believe him because he succeeds.

So he took some sheets of paper out of his pocket and began to write on the board.

1) 2 important concepts:

i) Long-term thinking

ii) 100% Duplicate

“Ok! The first important concept in our training today is LONG TERM THINKING!”

Then he started explaining why MLM or Network Marketing is a long term business like any other traditional business, minus the traditional business problems like employee problems, logistics problems, management problems, etc.! They are all handled by the MLM or Network Marketing company.

All you need to worry about is “Build your dealer network all over the world”.

“Give yourself the next 1-2 years to build a strong network of distributors around the world and you will become the owner of a multinational network that brings you solid income every month, even if you are sleeping in Singapore and others are still awake in Japan.”

That sounds really exciting to me!

For the next 1-2 years, all my friends would still be eating textbooks for breakfast in college, while I would be building my way to early retirement.

So I did exactly that, I said to myself, “For the next 1-2 years, I’m going to give 110% to my network marketing business!”

2 years later in 2003 my network grew from Singapore to Malaysia, China, Indonesia and had clients from as far away as Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong!

So that’s exactly what YOU SHOULD DO too, commit to giving yourself at least 1-2 years to build your business!

Have “THINKING LONG TERM!” and treat your network marketing business like a real business!

Important concept number two, “100% Duplication”.

“Duplication is the key to success in network marketing, however, to cite this example!

1×1=1

0.9 x 0.9 = 0.81

0.8 x 0.8 = 0.64

0.7 x 0.7 = 0.49

0.6×0.6 = 0.36

0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25

etc!

If we are going to put that in percentages like 100%, 90%, 80%, etc.! it simply means that the less you duplicate the successful system your upline taught you, the lower your chances of success!

Well, that seems pretty logical up to a point.

McDonald’s uses franchising to expand its business around the world, and if it realizes, McDonald’s will always keep its capital “M” brand and “yellow and red” colors in its fast food restaurants from the US to China and even Russia.

The system is 100% duplicated worldwide.

Once you understand this concept, you will realize that you have to trust your successful upline and use the system you are using to achieve success.

“Don’t reinvent the wheel unless it’s to make it more efficient!”

Every network marketing business or organization should have an efficient and effective duplication system that everyone in the organization can easily copy to achieve their own level of business success.

“Ok, follow my successful mentor and I won’t be wrong! I get the message.”

“You?”

Then my millionaire upline wrote on the board:

2) Why 100% Duplicate?

i) To avoid unnecessary errors

ii) Have a stable network

3) How do you double 100%?

i) There are 3 steps you need to follow,

Learn; Do; teaching

ii) There are 3 elements of the Support System that will also help you,

successful leaders; events; Tools

“Your goal in this business is to first be a good student, then become a good teacher, and finally become a great leader!”

“You must first be willing to leave behind all the baggage from your previous job or business and have a BACK TO ZERO mindset, so you can start off on the right foot and we can guide you on the right path to success.”

“After that, once you’ve achieved a certain level of business success, your role shifts to teaching, guiding and leading your team to success.”

Therefore, the 3 steps to success in your MLM business are to first be able to go back to zero and start learning the ropes, then lead by example and take action to achieve success, before finally teaching others to do the same.

While you play a vital role in your own business, your company or organization must have an adequate support system that provides you with a number of successful upline or secondary leaders who are already upline leaders.

These leaders act as mentors to keep you on the right track and guide you in the right direction. They are very accessible, willing to help you learn and overcome the difficulties you will encounter along the way.

There should be regular events at the company or organization level covering training sessions, motivational meetings, experience sharing and company meetings ranging from small team meetings to large hotel gatherings.

The bottom line is that network marketing or MLM is still a people business and people since the beginning of time need to meet regularly.

“Like a red hot burning lump of coal in a blazing fire pit, if you take that lone lump of coal out and away from the fire, what happens to that lone lump of coal?”

“Start cooling off!”

“What happens if you put it back on the bonfire?”

“Heats up again and helps keep the bonfire burning brighter than before!”

This is the rule of survival in MLM or Network Marketing.

“Meetings and events are where people recharge. Small meetings create small decisions. Big meetings create BIG DECISIONS.”

Finally, any strong network marketing or MLM company should have powerful marketing tools that help the distributor easily share the company’s message with anyone they may come in contact with.

“You can’t win a battle without guns and bullets!”

Similarly, you can’t win at network marketing without the right tools.

Tools refer to things like a company magazine that explains everything about the company, products, payment plan, and system in a clear and simple way to the person you pass the magazine to.

Tools refer to things like an audio CD that anyone can play in their car or listen to at home with a CD/Mp3 audio rig and have one of your top successful leads pitch you the business opportunity while you wait to make a follow-up call the next day.

Tools refer to things like a DVD video that anyone can play on their home DVD player or laptop/desktop computer and again have the business opportunity professionally pitched to them by a senior leader.

Tools refer to things like a website that combines your magazine content, audio CD, video DVD, and your personal contact information into an ALL-IN-ONE online information resource that works 24/7, never sleeps, and talks and presents for you while you sleep at home.

All of these tools and more that I can keep listing will dramatically simplify, automate, and double our efforts a thousand times more than you can do alone.

Your role in the business is simply to TAKE ADVANTAGE of the tools and “PASS THE INFORMATION” to as many people as possible every day.

“Can you learn to pass a CD or DVD to a potential dealer or customer?”

“Can you learn to pass a magazine to a potential distributor or customer?”

“Can you learn to give someone your ID card with your website address on it?”

“Heck, nowadays with email and texting on your mobile phone, all you have to do to start the business is send an email or text your website address to everyone on your contact list and invite them to visit your website and your new business.”

“That’s what I call simple duplication!”

5. Report your progress to your upline

6. Invite a guest to a weekly event

7. Use the products yourself

Now, as in Stephen R. Covey’s best selling book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, if you want to succeed in network marketing fast, you must change your daily habits to become highly effective and efficient.

A successful network marketer must not only constantly expand his social network, but must spend a lot of time on personal development and growth.

1. Show the Plan:

Show someone a Video DVD or magazine and explain that you are looking for business partners and that the DVD or magazine explains your business proposition in detail.

2. Share the Products:

Show them a sample of your products and explain the unique value and benefits it brings to the consumer.

3. Listen to a training audio:

Listen to training audios to update your knowledge about the company, products, payment plan and duplication system.

4. Read a recommended book:

Read books that will enhance your personal knowledge and help you grow as a leader.

5. Report your progress to your upline:

Call your upline every day to update your progress. If I’m your upline and I don’t hear from you in a week, I know you haven’t taken action. On the other hand, if you let me know how many people you’ve called every day, I know you’re making progress or doing something wrong that needs to be fixed.

6. Invite a guest to a weekly event:

If you have local events and presentations, be sure to take advantage of them by inviting your prospects to attend these events. Third party testimonials and substantiation are always better than yours.

7. Use the products yourself:

Network marketing is like sharing a good movie you saw with a friend and telling them they should watch it too. So if you don’t use the products yourself, how can you possibly share your experience or insights with someone else?

8. Add a new name to your list:

You do depend on your family and relatives to be successful in network marketing! good luck for you. Although I’ve seen network marketers have fantastic family members supporting them, that didn’t happen to me personally! My experience is that most of the best members of my team are people who are outside of my family circle. So learn to make new friends every day and find like-minded people to join your business and team.

So there you have it, the 8 daily habits you need to adopt to achieve FAST success in your MLM or Network Marketing Home Based Business.

So think about it, “What do you really want? I mean, what do you really, REALLY WANT?”

If you really want more wealth, better health, and more freedom, “JUST DO IT!”
